Alaska is a fantastic place to live. It offers unparalleled opportunities for adventure and enjoyment of the great outdoors. We love it here. But we believe more can be done to improve opportunities for social connection and interaction through healthy athletic activities. There is a tremendous need for more of this in our communities, particularly for adults and especially during the long, dark winter months. 

Our vision is to help address this need by creating a bright, clean, comfortable indoor sporting facility that will be a welcoming oasis from the rain, snow, cold, ice and darkness. 

Why call it Lighthouse Sporting Club? Because the Club will beckon people out of social isolation, physical inactivity, and inclement weather like a lighthouse beckons vessels to shore.  We also like the nod that the lighthouse theme gives to Anchorage’s nautical heritage and proximity to the sea.

The Lighthouse Sporting Club will serve as a premier location in the Anchorage Metro area for pickleball, badminton, and table tennis.  In time, we envision that the facility could also include light therapy areas (SAD light as well as IR therapy lights, a true Lighthouse!) a snack bar, and several other exciting features. There will also be additional rooms available for rent for corporate events and parties.

It will be an inviting collage of spaces designed to foster meaningful human interaction, community-building, healthy physical activity and good-natured competition. 

While several venues exist in town that facilitate some of these goals, they have multiple shortcomings. The available playing times are often limited and it’s common to have to wait long periods for an open court. No individual reservations are available, the playing surfaces are not purpose-built, and open play often requires that people with vastly different skill-sets and competitiveness levels play together.

Our facility will address these shortcomings and offer a unique, Club experience unlike anything currently available in our City.

It will foster the growth of our sports as it hosts leagues, tournaments, drop-in play, clinics, coaching, as well as parties and get-togethers of all types!

It will be a true home for the members, whereas now we’re merely guests in multipurpose facilities.
